Craving some street tacos but no taco truck in site? No fear, my tacos callejeros are here! This recipe is super simple and very quick to make. My recipe isn’t exactly traditional for street tacos but it does the trick.
1 pack of small tortillas (corn or flour)
1/2 jar of roasted salsa ( I love HEB’s Specialty salsa)
1/2 cup chopped white onion
3 tbsp chopped cilantro
dash of garlic salt
dash of season-all
dash of cumin
Season beef lightly with garlic salt, season-all and cumin while cooking over medium-high heat. When meat is nearly all brown, add half of a jar of salsa and turn heat down to medium low for approximately 5 minutes. While meat is simmering in salsa, chop up onion and cilantro. In a separate pan or microwave heat the tortillas so they are nice and warm. When meat is done and tortillas are warm, scoop beef and salsa mixture into tortilla and top with fresh onions, cilantro and a squeeze of lime. I typically serve these tacos with seasoned black beans.
