There are so many great areas of San Antonio to live in and although they all fall under the umbrella of “The Alamo Area” they can be very diverse in their offerings of homes, conveniences and history. To kick off this new little segment I’m going to focus on Stone Oak in North Central San Antonio. I don’t mean to be biased when choosing this one first but having lived here for 12 years, well it’s kind of hard not to be.
Stone Oak is a master planned community housing over 17,000 people across two zip codes. The average household income is $135,070/year and the median age is 35. Along with thousands of homes it is filled with a booming medical community, plenty of retail and top schools.
In addition this area promises fantastic eateries from Sushi, to Thai to European Cuisine. And of course some delicious Mexican food. Stone Oak also offers one of the largest HEB’s in Texas at the intersection of Hwy 281 and Evans Rd. But what will the men do while the women are shopping? Well go play a round at Canyon Springs golf club of course! Aside from shopping Stone Oak also has wonderful resources for the family and children to include dance schools, gymnastics, a YMCA center, public parks and top of the line work out facilities and spas.
Depending on your location, your children will either attend NEISD or Comal ISD. The availability of award wining schools is abundant. In addition to public schooling Stone Oak holds many private schools to include Buckner Fanning Christian School, Rolling Hills Academy and Primrose. In addition, there is a drop off at Cornerstone Church for their private school and a short drive to San Antonio Christian School.
Stone Oak supports an ever growing medical community providing 2 hospitals by major hospital systems and numerous private practices, clinics and surgery centers.
