Here’s to round two of my newly instituted “Neighborhood Snapshots”! Not far from my previous post of Stone Oak, the City of Shavano Park is located conveniently off of 1604 as far back as Huebner Rd between Lockhill Selma and Salado Creek. The city was originally founded in 1881 as it was being used as a frequent stagecoach and rail stop between San Antonio and Boerne.
This cozy community has a population of only about 3000 people but boasts it’s own full time police department and fire department apart from San Antonio. In addition they maintain their own water system, street maintenance, building inspections and code enforcement. The city is approximately 1.77 square miles.
One of the greatest convenience of living in Shavano Park is access to the rest of the city! With direct access to 1604 you are moments from IH10 and 281 where you can easily find fabulous shopping, entertainment and anything else you may need.
The City of Shavano Park is a part of Northside Independent School District. Children who live in the area will attend Blattman Elementary, Hobby Middle, and Clark High School.
